Day 1 // Ogunquit Beach, ME
Following a flight to the Northeast, we'll continue to the southern Maine coast. Settle in for the first of a two-night stay in the Picturesque Village of Ogunquit Beach. “Ogunquit” means beautiful place by the sea, and you'll feel the salty breeze from your hotel. Dip your toes in the Atlantic Ocean, walk the beach or explore the Ogunquit village shops. Meet the Maine Lobsterette at a welcome reception before dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2 // Ogunquit Beach, ME
Breakfast is served this morning overlooking the ocean. Then we'll make our way to the Seashore Trolley Museum where you can take a ride on a vintage trolley from the 1900s and learn more about the rich history of public transit. Explore the local shops in Kennebunkport's historic Dock Square. This afternoon, relish life in the thriving seaside community of Kennebunkport as a local guide shares the history and lore of Maine's most popular coastal resort town. Snap a photo of the iconic Nubble Lighthouse. This evening, take our seats for a traditional Maine Lobster dinner.
Day 3 // Middletown, CT
Witness unprecedented scenery as we journey through the White Mountain National Forest, a landscape of lakes and forests covered with nature's kaleidoscope-colored foliage. Encounter beautiful panoramas including a covered bridge, waterfalls and breath-taking mountain vistas along the scenic Kancamagus Byway. Have lunch on your own in the quaint village of North Woodstock. Stop in Fadden's General Store for their maple sugaring displays and old-fashioned items. Continue to the “Top of New England” to tour the world's largest candle store, Yankee Candle, reminiscent of an old Swiss chalet, it's stocked with hundreds of candles in every color and scent imaginable. We'll make our way to the town of Middletown for dinner and a two night stay.
Day 4 // Middletown, CT
Travel to Essex for a narrated cruise on the Connecticut River. Cruise past Gillette Castle and the historic Goodspeed Opera House. Visit the Mark Twain House to learn about the legendary author and life in the Clemens household between 1874 and 1891. Sam and Olivia Clemens built this unique 3-story mansion during the time he wrote his most beloved works.
Day 5 // Hyannis, MA
Make your way to Boston and take a guided tour of Boston's iconic landmarks. Learn all about the rich history of the city and see sights like the Boston Common & Public Gardens, the Back Bay, and the State House. You'll have free time to explore the area and have lunch on your own. After lunch, take in the sights of the Faneuil Hall and Quincy Marketplace. Dinner will be included at our resort this evening.
Day 6 // Hyannis, MA
Today tour the tip of Cape Cod. View the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore. Surrounded by sand dunes and the ocean waves as you approach "Land's End" - Provincetown. Explore the variety of restaurants and shops of the unique artist & fisherman village. Tour Hyannis in the Mid-Cape region and visit the John F. Kennedy memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannis Port, and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Day 7 // Hyannis, MA
Today, your local guide will take you on a full day of touring “America's first hometown”. See the Forefather's Monument, the largest solid granite monument in the U.S. Grab a photo at the Plymouth Rock, and see the newly restored Mayflower II and have lunch and shopping along the Plymouth waterfront. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Pilgrim Hall Museum which houses an unmatched collection of Pilgrim possessions. Next, travel to the oldest town on Cape Cod, Sandwich. and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Village Green, the salt marsh, and Cape Cod Bay. Dinner will be included tonight.
Day 8 // Hyannis, MA
We have lots of great stops planned on the tiny “ocean state” of Rhode Island. Once we arrive in Newport, you'll meet a character guide portraying “Mrs. Caroline Astor”, the Grande Dame of Newport in the Gilded Age of the late 1800s. She will lead you on a narrated tour of the historic buildings and points of interest. Take a look around the Sailing Museum in the historic Armory Building which features interactive exhibits chronicling the history of the sport of sailing. In the afternoon we'll take a self-guided tour of the famous Breaker's Mansion. Breaker's Mansion is a grandiose symbol of the Vanderbilt families social and financial preeminence. Dinner will be included before returning to the hotel for the night.
Day 9 // Home
Leaving New England behind, we board our flight home today.
